Part-Time Counselor Aide

NATURE OF WORK:
This is responsible and specialized direct service work with adults. Clients are substance abusers who may be dually diagnosed or have additional diagnosed disabilities. Work involves scheduling appointments, conducting biopsychosocial evaluations and determining appropriate disposition for care to assist the client in achieving recovery goals. Work includes interacting with the Admissions Team, advocating with community providers and referral agents, and linking clients with appropriate services. This position may also be required to provide substance abuse group education/therapy services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Bachelors Degree in a Human Service filed with three years of related experience
Eligible or certified as an Addiction Associate Professional (CAAP) in the State of Florida.
Considerable knowledge of clinical assessment process, treatment planning, individual, group, and family therapy. Ability to quickly and accurately assess and diagnose persons for treatment; ability to formulate realistic goals and objectives.
Ability to communicate effectively with suicidal, mentally, emotionally, and/or psychologically disturbed clients in person and over the telephone.
Excellent computer and time management skills.
Possession of a valid Florida driver's license, proof of personal automobile insurance, and have acceptable driving record
Preferred:
Masters Degree or educational equivalenency in a Human Service field with one year of related experience. Eligible or certified as an Addictions Professional (CAP) in the State of Florida.
Any person with an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the appropriate level of knowledge, abilities, and skills related to this position will be considered for this position with review and approval of the Executive Director or his/her designee.

$8.25 HOURLY AFTER SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF SIX MONTH PROVISIONAL PERIOD
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience in a social service or residential setting preferred.
