Subject:  parolee in your program

I have a letter in the file of Earl Corey that he had been accepted into your program. The letter was authored by Maryann Izzo-Gonzalez. Mr. Corey should be getting out in the next few months and i was inquiring if the program was still available to him? I also need to know where your program is located.

Please e-mail me back with the info.

Subject:  Where did the Angels go that used to work at Angel

I was a resident in the Downey house back in 2005 from May thru July.  My experience was forever life changing.  I am re-married to a wonderful man and have been drug free for 4 years.  After completing my 45 day journey I moved to Brooklyn, NY and became very involved with NA and even became Chairmen of my home group.   Gina Chadwick was my counselor while I was a resident and later became one of my life coach's.  I continuously stayed in touch with her over the years.  In the summer of 2007 I got the most amazing opportunity when I had moved back to the LA area.  Gina hired me to work as a program aid on the weekends at the Highland Park house.  It was the most amazing experience ever.  In March of 2008 the company let me go but I really never understood why or what I had done wrong to loose a job I loved so much.  While I was deeply saddened I choose to look at the situation to mean  that it was God's time for me to move on.  I was even more saddened to find out that the people I knew are no longer working for the company such as Gina Chadwick, Eva, Sylvia, Cindy, Griselda and many others.  However I was even further disappointed by the rudeness I encountered when I called the hotline to gather information for a female neighbor in crisis.  I called the last none number I had for Angel Step and wasn't sure if it was the business line or the hotline so before I gave the number I called. the woman who answered the phone was rude and acted like she couldn't or didn't want to give me any information.  Customer Service is key and as far as I'm concerned it should be an expected requirement for all employees working with women in crisis.  The lady answered the phone and I said hello my name is Promise I was a former employee of SCDAP and I used to work at the Highland Park house who am I speaking too?  She snapped at me and said, "What do you need, why are you calling!" In a very irritated tone of voice,  The call was made on a Saturday evening around 6:45PM.  she refused to give me her name.  I continued and told her I worked there when Gina Chadwick was the director and I am trying to find her she cut me off and said, "You need to call the corporate office."  I kind of paused due to the fact I couldn't believe she was talking to me that way.  Then I said I feel like your kind of snubbing me.  I was also calling because I would like the hotline number because I have a female neighbor in crisis.  I asked her a third time for her name.  She then proceeded to tell me, "If I worked here I should know about confidentiality."  I then stated to her I haven't asked you anything about the residents I was inquiring about the former Director and also about the hot line number.  She then said well the number I had called was the hotline I said thank you and hung up the phone  It then made me hesitant to even give the neighbor the number because if you have employees working for you that can't extend common courtesy over the phone how can they possibly give it to prospective clients.  It saddens me to think that a place that had given me my life back may not be the same place today.  I hope that you will talk to your employees about customer service because that's not the way you treat people.  When I was an employee I was never told to not give my name to someone calling in.  As a matter of fact when ever I answered the phone I always said, "Hot line this is Promise how can I help you."   When I worked on the weekends if a call came in that the week day staff needed to handle I would politely say."Well Mr/Mrs so in so I am unable to assist you with your concern at this time, so you will need to speak someone on Monday. Then proceed to give them the business phone and offer to take any message to help them obtain a quicker response.   That's  what is known as basic customer service 101 which seems to be greatly lacking within the culture of our society today.  It's a shame that this situation angered me so that I needed to write you and inform you of what is going on.  It made me ask the question:  Where did the Angels go that used to serve as guiding lights for the lost at Angel Step Inn.  I hope you find them and bring them back to a program that was once very powerful in the rebuilding of broken lives.

Respectfully,

Mrs Promise Marks (Former employee)
