Angel Step Inn was established by SCADP in 1995 as the first domestic violence emergency shelter in California for battered, substance-addicted women and their children. The program has a static capacity of 41beds at two emergency shelter sites in Los Angeles County. Angel Step Inn is funded through the State Department of Maternal Child and Adolescent Health, the State Office of Emergency Services, L.A. County Community and Senior Services (Presley marriage license fees), the Emergency Housing and Assistance Program, and the City of Los Angeles Community Development Department. Angel Step Inn provides shelter and a 45-day dual focus program of substance abuse treatment and domestic violence counseling for women with co-morbid battering and addiction issues. Our emergency shelters provide on-site case management, linkage and transportation to social services, as well as discharge planning for transition to safe transitional or permanent housing. The shelter is staffed by domestic violence professionals with experience in substance abuse treatment; all of whom hold domestic violence certification as approved by the State of California.
