Every day another child says, "Thanks"
There are many ways children can help the families of the Ronald McDonald House.
Below is just a few of the ways others have helped.
The Quilt That Love Built
Many thanks to Brendan Franks who produced and directed the children's play, The Quilt That Love Built as part of his Eagle Scout Project. The play written by Jerri Chaplin, a local Charleston poet, tells the story of a girl who travels to the Ronald McDonald House in Charleston with a heart problem. She is befriended by two angels and characters from a quilt that help her through her journey. The play was performed for the 2006 Family Reunion, as well as at First Christian Church and The Charleston County Library. Thanks to the sponsors, actors and technicians, ages 8 - 18 who helped make this production possible. To obtain a free DVD of this performance, contact Barbara@RMHCharleston.org
Pop Tabs
What is shiny, weights about a gram, and can be used to help families of seriously ill children? A POP TAB! Pop tabs are easy to collect and allow for any individual or community organization to participate. The program provides a terrific opportunity for children to get involved and make a genuine contribution to the Ronald McDonald House.
Change for Children
This fundraising campaign gives children the opportunity to help other children and their families in their time of need. Schools and churches participate by encouraging students to bring their spare change and put it in the collection canister. At the end of the school year the students count the money and bring it to the Ronald McDonald House.
Wish List
Hold a Sale
Kids can help by holding a sale of used toys, artwork, or yardsale items. Stile Point Elementary Profoundly Mentally Disabled Class raised $520 through sales of hand made Christmas cards. Many thanks to those students and their teachers for helping others.
