How God Chose Rehema For Our Ministry Name
Rehema means Mercy in Swahili. Rehema Grace was found at two days old abandoned in a cornfield with her umbilical cord still attached. They named her Rehema Grace because of God's mercy and grace in her life. Without God's hand on her, she would not have survived the two days of cold rainy weather.

As we walked through the streets of Kitale in 2001, children begging for money and food confronted us. The local people we were with said it was nothing, that they were just street beggars and rushed us along. As we asked about the children, they said; they have parents, they just came to town to beg. The sad reality is that these kids have parents who are at home dying of AIDS or they have now become street orphans.

When these children go on the street, they vow that they will never sniff glue. But when their tummies are empty and they are cold, it is the only thing that takes away the pain. So, they become addicted to glue. After a few months, they are impossible to reach as the glue destroys brain cells. Our goal is to get these children before they reach the street.
Rehema Ministries was founded in October of 2006. In Step Foundation was founded under our ministry and granted a permit to open a Children's Home in Kenya. Rehema Ministries as the parent ministry is the arms and legs and In Step Foundation is the heart and the breath of the ministry.

OUR NEW HOME

In May 2008, we moved into our new facility. The building has two wings connected by an enclosed veranda for total of 5,600 square feet. There are 14 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, livingroom and office. The veranda is used as a dining room, playroom, pre-school and church. The building to the right is a traditional outdoor cooking area. The building to the far left is a workshop and the white one is a storehouse.
