DONATE TIME

Volunteers play a vital role in the work of the Regional Food Bank. Every day, volunteers assist in our warehouse, on our farm, in our office, and in the community to ensure our operation continues to be most efficient.

Most volunteers work in one or more of the following areas:

Volunteer to Repack

Volunteer to Sort

Volunteer to Work the Farm

Volunteer for Office Work

Volunteer for the Holiday Hunger Appeal

Volunteer for a Special Event

Volunteer to Repack

Groups and individuals of all ages are welcome to work in our warehouse on evenings and weekends repacking food and grocery products. Volunteers assist in preparing donated items for distribution by repacking bulk packaged product into useable, family-size packages, sorting useable items from damaged product, and re-labeling mislabeled or unlabeled cans and bottles.

Volunteer to Sort Food

Our salvage volunteers are a very special group of dedicated people who sort and repack food that comes to the Food Bank in damaged containers. Salvage volunteering is easy and a great way to help get good food to those in need. Since salvage volunteers need to be trained, we ask them to commit to volunteering on a regular basis. Most volunteers work weekly, but we also welcome those available on a bi-weekly or monthly basis. We are currently looking for volunteers Wednesday-Friday mornings.

Volunteer for the Holiday Hunger Appeal

The Food Bank's largest and most public fundraising appeal takes place each year during the holiday season at Crossgates Mall. Hundreds of volunteers spend a few hours asking shoppers to donate to the Food Bank. Businesses, civic organizations, schools, and families are encouraged to sign up for a full day or just one shift.
