Patricia N. McLaughlin, Ph.D, VCF
Pat is a Founder of the Quad-City Labyrinth Project. She has served as the Executive Director and President of the QCLP Board of Directors since January 2002.
Pat is a Veriditas Certified Facilitator, having received her training from Rev. Dr. Lauren Artress, Founder and Director of Veriditas~The Worldwide Labyrinth Project, in January 2001. She has also trained with Robert Ferre, Founder and Director of the St. Louis Labyrinth Project and proprietor of Labyrinth Enterprises, in March 2001. As a Founder of the Quad-City Labyrinth Project, Pat is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the Quad Cities—one step at a time. Pat also holds a doctoral degree in Rhetoric and Composition from the University of Oregon (1995). She has taught at the University of Oregon, Lane Community College (Eugene, Oregon), and Central Michigan University. During her academic career, she received several awards for outstanding teaching, distinguished service, and excellence in the field of staff and organizational development:

Centurion Award for Distinguished Service, 1986 | In addition to her teaching skills, Pat also brings a wealth of expertise in project coordination, management, and administration to her position as Executive Director of the Quad-City Labyrinth Project. She is currently pursuing a Certificate in Nonprofit Management through the Nonprofit Management Institute, a comprehensive educational program for the nonprofit sector.
Pat is also actively involved in labyrinth-related professional development activities. Beginning in March 2000, she has conducted extensive research on the relationship between the labyrinth and the Gothic form, researching and photographing more than 30 churches and cathedrals throughout France and focusing on those with extant labyrinths (Amiens, St. Quentin, Chartres). She has also volunteered to serve as a facilitator for labyrinth facilitator training programs conducted by Rev. Dr. Artress, including the Theater of Enlightenment and Labyrinth Facilitator Certification Training at Siena Retreat Center in Racine, Wisconsin, in October 2001; and the Theater of Enlightenment and Labyrinth Facilitator Certification Training at Sinsinawa Mound Retreat Center in Sinsinawa, Wisconsin, in October 2002. In May 2003, she explored the English turf labyrinths with renowned labyrinth scholars Jeff Saward and Dr. Kimberly Lowelle-Saward including seven of the eight extant English turf labyrinths (St. Catherine’s Hill Miz Maze, Breamoor Miz Maze; the turf labyrinths at Hilton, Wing, Troy, and Saffron Waldon; and Julian’s Bower). Pat has also been actively involved in The Labyrinth Society, serving as the Director of Development during the 2002-2003 fiscal year and attending the society’s annual professional gathering.
In addition to being a labyrinth enthusiast, Pat is a devoted caregiver for her father, Maj. Gen. (ret.) Burl W. McLaughlin. She is also a cat fancier, who delights in the antics of her black domestic shorthair feline, Cleopatra Daughter of Isis Queen of the Nile.
