Spay/Neuter Hotline (973) 347-5469

Call us today to get a spay/neuter coupon for a vet in your area. Pet overpopulation is still a problem in the US. However, it's a battle we are winning. In 1978, about 17 million animals were euthanized in shelters. Today, about 6 million are euthanized - still too many, of course. We are moving in the right direction because responsible pet owners like you are getting their pets spayed/neutered and stopping the cycle of unwanted pets being born. Call today for your referral!

Surrendering Your Pet
At Noah's Ark, we understand what a difficult decision this is for a pet guardian. Here is the general process for owners who need to surrender their pets.
Since Noah's Ark operates under a “no kill” philosophy, this means we never euthanize an animal to make space for a new one coming in.  While we are passionate about helping every animal, we want to provide only the best possible care for the animals awaiting adoption and this sometimes means that we are not able to immediately take animals in.
In order to surrender your pet, you’ll need to call the shelter at 973-347-0378 and speak to or leave a message for a staff member about making an appointment to surrender your pet. Sometimes we are able to take in your pet right away. If we are able to schedule an appointment with you right away, please bring all of your pet’s veterinary records with you so we know what shots we will need to update, if any. This will help to ensure the health of your pet while they are waiting to be re-homed. If we are not able to make an appointment right away for you to surrender your pet, we will put you on a waiting list and call you the moment a space becomes available.
If you are placed on a waiting list, we encourage you to reach out to other shelters in your area. We work with a number of great municipal pounds and rescue groups in the area that we can recommend if we are not able to take in your pet at this time. Please also make note that there is a fee to surrender your pet to Noah’s Ark. This is something that you can discuss with a staff member as well.
