NEXT GENERATIONS and FAU’s Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education will strengthen their long-standing collaboration during the 2008/09 season.   In addition to completing the pilot phase of the Oral Testimony project, the two organizations plan to develop a companion DVD focusing on the experience of Holocaust survivors from the time of liberation through their settlement in the United States and/or Israel.  This phase of the project will emphasize interviews with Survivors and their children about this critical period of transition in the survivors’ lives.  The Center will develop the interview protocol as well as the curriculum guide for use with the DVD in schools.  In addition to this project, the Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education will assist NG with the upcoming workshop on the Displaced Persons Era scheduled for February 2009, provide NG with resources and contacts for this program as well as for developing a safe and affordable transportation network for survivors who can no longer drive.   The Center will also partner with NG to bring traveling exhibits and programs of common interest to the area to expand public education about the Holocaust and the consequences of genocide on succeeding generations.  Through sharing a wide range of resources including meeting space, exhibit space, speakers and organizational networks, the two organizations will continue to prosper.

• Assisting with Yad Vashem^s Pages of Testimony project, a worldwide, computerized effort to document victims of the Shoah

• Assisting with and participating in Cafe Europa, a social program for Holocaust survivors sponsored by local Jewish Family Service organizations

• Coordinating with Florida Atlantic University^s Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education to sponsor educational events for the community

• Sponsoring public speaking trainings to prepare the second and third generations to tell their stories to school groups, civic organizations, religious congregations, etc.

• Book discussion groups for self-enrichment and learning

• Participation in community Yom Hashoah programs

• Partnership programs with The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum

• Partnership programs with Hillel of Broward & Palm Beach County

• Sponsoring classes in Yiddish language and culture
