A Lenten Resource

Greetings from Oregon, fellow Pastoral Workers!  As you plan for Lent, 2009, I want to tell you about a resource I spent some time developing this past summer.

It's a 6-week Faith-sharing program designed for small groups of Deaf Catholics, written specifically for use in this Year of St. Paul.  The material is gleaned and re-written from 3 different sources, and I've received copyright permission from all 3 of them to share it with others outside our own archdiocese.

If you're familiar with such programs as RENEW,  Disciples in Mission, or QUEST you'll have an idea of what this program and its weekly sessions consist of.

It's entitled Becoming New in Christ and the six sessions focus on St. Paul's themes of Conversion, Salvation, The Body of Christ, Jesus as Our Lord and Our Life, The Cross as Central, and New Life in the Risen Christ.  Simple instructions on how to use the program are also included.

Rather than printing copies, the entire program will be available to any of you who are interested through e-mail -- in PDF format.  Then you can make as many copies as you need at your own location.  I'll bring a few booklets to our Pastoral Week in January so you can take a look at it.  If you decide to use it you can simply add your e-mail address to a sign-up sheet and I'll send you the complete document when I return to the office.     (It couldn't be simpler!!)

Projects like this take so much time to develop, and I'm happy to be able to share it with other Deaf Catholics throughout the U.S. and Canada!

Looking forward to seeing you all in San Mateo,   -Sr. Linda Roby
