Topic:  Is it our job to take care of our clients

Or

Is it our job to support our clients?

- What’s the difference?

What do you think?

Subject:  budget cuts

As you may know by now, the State of Colorado has significantly altered the Medicaid Waiver under which some consumers has been receiving support from Mountain Valley through the Supported Living Services or Children’s Extended Support program.   While we remain somewhat puzzled as to the reasons for such drastic reductions in the level of support that is available, we have been forced to reduce a number of individualized plans in order to comply with the State’s new limits.    Mountain Valley is committed to minimizing any negative impacts and, in many cases, will try to subsidize services to your family member.   However, our organization has experienced reductions in funding of almost $500,000 over the past two years as result of the changes in the manner in which the State funds our programs and is now facing significant budgetary issues that do impact our ability to provide as much help as we would like to.

We sincerely regret the adverse impact that this change will undoubtedly cause and we will continue to do everything within our power to assist you and your family.    Should you desire to express concern with regard to this issue we would suggest that you contact:

It would be very helpful if you could point out the importance of these services in allowing you to maintain your family member within your home and the assistance that the supports have provided in keeping your family intact.
