CHRISTMAS ANGEL MISSION
THE LONELIEST DAY
By Rick Mathes
My name is #123701 and I am a born-again Christian. I have been judged unfit to live in society and am here to be punished for a crime I committed. I pray for those that I have sinned against every day and certainly deserve to be here as my punishment. I never considered the consequences of my actions until I turned my life from crime to Christ. Now I understand more the “unintended consequences” of my actions: I have offended my wife and children. They too are the victims of my crime.
It’s my fault that they won’t have Daddy home for Christmas and will not receive my love and gifts to celebrate the birth of Christ. It will be a dismal day for them because I left them without the means to enjoy the day as you and yours will and as we once did. They won’t wake up to much without us together as a family. So I am grateful that the Lord saved my life and you helped my children have a blessed Christmas. I dread this day and ask as a fellow Christian that you will extend your love and gifts to my family on my behalf. I would do the same for you if the situation were reversed. And I understand if you won’t.
This is certainly in God’s hands and if my family shares my loneliest day, I will understand it to be an important part of my chastising. I accept that with contrition but appeal to you to bless them for me.
