Repair Affair

Repair Affair is a volunteer driven, community-based program that helps aging and disabled homeowners receive minor home repairs, which they desperately need.  Projects have included painting, hanging gutters, building wheelchair ramps, and other minor repairs.  Though Repair Affair was originally funded by the Kentucky Housing Corporation, it is now completely sponsored by community business, churches, and private donors.  Repair Affair 2008 is the seventh annual one-day repair event.

If you are interested in helping, we accept cash donations, in-kind donations, as well as construction volunteers.

Each year, the Repair Affair volunteers repair at least ten homes in the community, if funds are available.  Teams of volunteers are assembled by local churches, businesses, and civic organizations.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please call or visit the McCHDO offices to sign-up.  Volunteers will be asked to fill out an application.  No prior carpentry experience is required.  Participants will also receive a FREE t-shirt!!!!

Volunteers will assemble at the McCHDO offices in Pine Knot at the Outdoor Venture/Academy Plant for coffee and donuts at 8:00 a.m. the morning of the Repair Affair before heading off to the job sites.  Lunches will be served on the job sites.

We are looking forward to the opportunity to serve the residents of McCreary County and we hope you will join us!

Homeowner information:
