The Scholarship program has three main branches:
Covanic Scholarships - School Supplies Scholarships - Partnership Scholarships
The Covanic Scholarships are in correlation with the El Farito Chrisitan Preschool (see Preschool). In order for children to be eligible for scholarships through this branch, they must attend El Farito Preschool for 2 years. Following graduation from preschool, the children are eligible for a scholarhip to a local private school called Covanic. We hope to sponsor these children from kindergarten all the way through high school. Our desire through this program is to not only provide the financial support these students need, but also to provide a consistent relationship with them that is focused on the importance of their education. We currently have 3 first graders and 4 kindergarteners scholarshiped at Covanic.
School Supplies Scholarships:
The School Supplies Scholarships provides various school supplies for children attending public school. We have recently restructured the application process of this program to make these scholarships available to those students who are serious about education. The scholarships from this branch provide backpacks, pencils and notebooks, uniforms and school shoes to children attending a public school called Pedro Davilia located in Cedro Galan. This program is structured in 4 quarters with attendance and academic requirements. Students must have 2 or fewer absences per month and an 80% or higher academic status per quarter. Each quarter that the students satisfy provides them with a specific item of school supplies for the following school year. If a student satisfies one of the four quarters, he/she will receive a backpack for the following school year. If a student satisfies two of the four quarters he/she will receive a backpack and pencils and notebooks for the following school year. If a child satisfies three of the four quarters, he/she will receive a backpack, school supplies and a uniform for the following school year. And finally, those students who satisfy the requirements for all four quarters will receive all the supplies needed for the following school year, including a backpack, pencils and notebooks, a uniform and school shoes. We believe that this new program structure will promote motivation towards academic excellence, as well as more efficient usage of the scholarship supplies.
Partnership Scholarships:
The Partnership Scholarships represent the partnership that we have with Amanda’s current scholarship program. We work with Amanda to provide individuals with various levels of academic support at various levels of education. Learn more about Amanda's program.
