Sue Pyle,
Communications Coordinator, Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association:
“You are offering a treasure of resources to communities across our state. Thank you for your dedication and your continued commitment to public education.

Dr. Carol Chance,
Rabouin Career Magnet High School, Orleans Parish
"The Louisiana Center for Law and Civic Education has provided invaluable resources, both human and material, for the teachers at Rabouin. Our social studies teachers and students have benefited from kits, videos, reference materials that are made available from the resource library at the Center. Resource people serve as guest speakers and group activity leaders. Teachers in various content areas have learned conflict resolution techniques and cooperative learning strategies by attending workshops offered or arranged by the Center. Our teachers have networked with teachers from other schools and have developed curriculum ideas and have shared instructional plans and materials.

Our students have attended Teen Camp, Law Day, and mock trials. They have participated in student-centered programs that relate to community and legal issues, conflict resolution, problem-solving and decision-making, leadership, and the development of action plans for community involvement. We have seen growth in students' ability to communicate on various civic topics and in students' ability to work cooperatively in groups to build consensus.

Jo Ann Brou
East Thibodaux Junior High School, Lafourche Parish
"I was one of the first teachers to be trained by the Center. When I use old strategies of lecture or question and answers, I can see that I am loosing (sic) my students. When I use the techniques I have learned from the Center, I see my students interested and enjoying my class...I was thinking of retiring...I was burnt out. After (training with the Center), I came back ready to conquer the world and with a new outlook on teaching. I am still enjoying teaching..."

Michael Havard
Student, Warren Easton Sr. High School, Orleans Parish
"Being a mediator at Warren Easton Sr. High School was and still is the experience of a lifetime. Being a mediator is a very hard but worthwhile job. It's hard because you must first know how to control your own anger before you can help someone else. As you go through the mediation process you learn to be neutral, meaning you don't take sides. I am very thankful to LCE for teaching and training me in peer mediation skills; that training that I received helped me
