PROGRAMS
Women Caring for Women/Mujeres Cuidando Mujeres (MCM) is a program designed to provide culturally sensitive, language appropriate breast health and cervical cancer information to low-income, uninsured or underserved Latina women residing in San Francisco County and San Mateo County.
The goal of the Mujeres Program is to reduce the disparities in breast and cervical cancer morbidity and mortality among low-income monolingual Latinas living in San Francisco and San Mateo County. The project seeks to increase knowledge and acceptance of gynecological health care and increase breast and cervical screening among these women by enrolling them into California^s "Every Women Counts" Cancer Detection Program.
MCM provides its services through its partnerships with St. Luke^s Hospital, Good Samaritan Family Resource Center, Planned Parenthood Golden Gate in San Francisco and San Mateo Medical Center in San Mateo County. Since 2002 over 1500 low-income women have received free screening services.
