Medical and Clinical Education

  • Provides training and support to medical providers serving the underserved community who seek to increase their knowledge of the latest treatment protocols in HIV/AIDS care.

  • Provides on-site Medical Record reviews to minority AIDS - serving organizations and physicians, with follow-up clinical in-services related to:

    • Antiretroviral/Laboratory analysis

    • Demographic reports

    • Laboratory reports

    • Antiretroviral histories

Conducts national and regional clinical conferences on HIV/AIDS treatment for minority-serving physicians and allied health professionals.

Objectives

  • To train and/or update physicians and allied health professionals on state-of-the-art HIV/AIDS treatment regimens and/or issues related to treatment of minority clients with HIV/AIDS.

  • To serve as expert consultants in HIV/AIDS care to minority-serving physicians.

  • The importance of a structured drug regimen and why adherence to the regimen is important.

  • Recent trends in the development of anti-retroviral drugs.

  • Effective first line and salvage therapy regimens.

  • Common drug interactions and what can be done to avoid them.

  • Relative importance of clinical research in minority and under-served populations.
