Q: Why send my child to winter camp 2008?
A: Winter camp is an excellent opportunity for your child to
take a break from their busy lives at home. During this four day retreat, your
child will partake in fun and engaging activities with new and old friends,
while simultaneously building on their sense of pride and community.
Q: How long has this program been around?
A: We have over 80 years of program experience. Winter camp is entering it’s 38th year.
Q: What are the winter camp dates for 2008?
A: December 24th-28th,
2008
Q: How much does it cost to send my child to winter camp?
A: The cost is $650.00 per child. Sibling and referral discounts
are available.
Q: When is the registration deadline?
A: Registration officially closes on December 19th 2008. (Please note:
After December 12th, price
increases to $725.00)
Q: How many children attend winter camp and how old are they?
A: We host an intimate group of 60-80 children each year.
They range between 9-15.

A: Tal Beery is the Camp

Q: Who will take care of my child throughout the day?
A: The staff we bring to winter camp consist of former camp
attendees. They have been thoroughly
screened and trained to be responsible counselors. The ratio of children to counselors is 3:1.
Q: What will my child be doing each day?
A: During winter camp, your children will be participate in
a variety of activities including: fun and interactive indoor projects, outdoor
physical activities such as nature hikes, sledding and ropes courses, and evening
theatrical events.
Q: Where will my child sleep?
A: There are three heated cabins at winter camp, each with
four rooms and seven beds per room. Counselors stay with the children.
Q: What will my child eat?
A: We serve three meals per day in addition to two snacks.
They are all served “kosher style”.
Q: What happens if
there is a medical issue or emergency?
A: We have first aid kids on hand. We also have an EMT
on call, 24/7. The closest hospital is 6.5 miles away.
Q: Will my child make friends?
A: Absolutely. Whether they come with friends or come alone,
our activities are designed to facilitate a high degree of interactions between
kids of all ages with the hopes of creating everlasting bonds.
Q: What happens if my child gets homesick?
A: Homesickness is extremely common. We have diligently trained
staff who are nurturing and patient, equipped to handle your child’s concerns.
Q: What are your plans for Channukah?
A: We will celebrate Channukah by lighting candles,
exchanging gifts, singing and story-telling.
Q: How will my child get to and from camp?
A: We have Coach Buses
that will take your kids to and from camp. We have drop-off and pick-up points in
Manhattan, Long
Island, New Jersey, and Albany. Information to follow.
