Music at the Mansion
Continuing the popular “Music at the Mansion” program celebrating American music, the Friends of Poplar Hill Mansion is pleased to announce a third program “Broadway Comes to the Mansion” to be held Sunday, September 28, 2008 at 2:00 pm. The program showcases songs from your favorite Broadway shows. Susan Zimmer, adjunct faculty at Salisbury University since 1993, will be accompanying mezzo-soprano Aleta Davis and tenor-baritone John Allen.
Ms. Zimmer holds a Master of Music degree from Yale University School of Music and Institute of Sacred Music, a Bachelor of Music degree from Texas Tech University. She is currently studying for a doctorate in music education from Boston University. Ms. Zimmer serves as the Director of Music for Wicomico Presbyterian Church in Salisbury.
Ms. Davis has studied classical voice with Dr. Sandra Jarrett for six years. She has performed at Milton Theater, Smyrna Opera House, Suicide Bridge Party Boat cruises as well as currently performing with Footlights Theater Productions, Swingtime Theater Company and the Salisbury Chamber Singers. Ms. Davis holds a Bachelors degree in 2-D Art and Art Education from Salisbury University.
John Allen is a research scientist who holds patents in climate control for the textile industry and whose avocation is music. He plays the recorder and is a member of the Chancel choir at Wicomico Presbyterian Church and Bach to the Future in Easton. Mr. Allen earned degrees in philosophy and French from Wofford College.
The Friends of Poplar Hill Mansion is a 501 (c) (3) corporation dedicated to the preservation of this fine home built in the Federal style, the oldest house in Salisbury. The funds raised through the “Music at the Mansion” series supports the historic interior paint project.

General Admission Tickets are $10 per person or $15.00 per couple. In the past, our popular program has been sold out and reservations are suggested for both Complimentary and General Admission Tickets. For your convenience, we now accept credit cards.
