KGO Radio has to be the most generous and community-minded radio station, not only in the San Francisco Bay Area, but in the United States.
KGO radio generously raises funds for a variety of causes and 100% of the money raised goes to the cause. Of course, the one near and dear to our hearts is the KGO Radio Thanks giving charity Drive. This is held from the first Sunday in November and continues through the month. The Thanksgiving Charity Drive funds four organizations: St. Anthony's in San Francisco, Sacred Heart Community Center in San Jose, St Vincent de Paul in Oakland and Fresh Start Walnut Creek.
We would like to thank Mickey Luckoff, General Manager of KGO, Sue Muzzin, Marketing Director and all of the Marketing staff, who work so hard on the Thanksgiving Charity Drive.
The kind and generous KGO listeners also have our thanks and gratitude. Many of you have become volunteers, friends, and great supporters of Fresh Start Walnut Creek.
The support of the following Walnut Creek businesses and Foundations have been so important to our success:

Creek Kids is a non-profit made up of concerned and hopeful Walnut Creek children and teens who believe their time, creativity and effort can make a difference in the world. Borne out of two young children's concern over one local homeless man's well being, the project is growing go involve many local scout troops, elementary schools and other community organizations. It is a project to support and care for children, adults and families in need both locally and internationally.
Children show their vitality and their imaginations through their art work. Giving their artwork away to loved one's and seeing their creations appreciated and displayed is a meaningful way for children to share themselves and their love.
The inspired young children of CKC create art while the older children use this art to create stationery for other to enjoy and share. All proceeds are used to purchase necessary equipment and supplies for organizations of the Creek Kids' choosing. Since CKC's beginning in 2004, its main focus ha been to support local people without homes.

The Walnut Creek Newcomers are a group of glorious women who serve the Walnut Creek Communty to help people new to our area make new friends and get involved in new activities. Fresh Start is fortunate that this wonderful group has set aside time, once a month, to bring lunch to Fresh Start. They have made many new and appreciative friends here. Everyone looks forward to the last Tuesday of the month when "The Mom Food" arrives! “Through the spirit of God’s love and guidance, we provide food, shelter
and moral support to people in need beyond the parish.”
-mission statement, St Timothy’s Outreach Team
With this statement, our Outreach Team has stayed focused on people’s needs in the world at large. Our efforts stretch from the global community to the towns in our little section of the SanRamonValley. Through grants, liaisons, physical and moral support, we try to become involved in, and lessen, the burdens of those whose struggles are beyond their ability to cope.
T.A.P.S. has been very good to Fresh Start and all of our participants. In 2005 T.A.P.S. gave us the merriest Christmas! In 2006 a U-Haul arrived one day and suddenly we had gorgeous out door furniture! It was as if another room had been added to the St. Paul's Fellowship house. Everyone enjoys sitting outside to have breakfast, lunch or just to have coffee or talk with a friend. Thank you, T.A.P.S.
TAPS was created from the desire to partner high school girls and their parents in community volunteerism. Founded by Melanie Knoth English and co-founded by Christy Deibert, Robson English, Rhonda Montgomery, and Cindy Sakai, on February 25, 2002, TAPS welcomed seventeen teens and their parents as Charter Members. TAPS has grown to sixty-seven (67) teens and a Sustainer/alumnae group.
