There are a number of staple items that are rarely donated, yet are always requested by our agencies. In early 2005, the Food Bank began purchasing several of these items at wholesale prices and passing the cost on to the agencies. As long as we can save the agencies money and provide this service, we are stocking 1-pound chubs of ground beef, 1-pound chubs of ground turkey, 1-pound bags of spaghetti noodles, 2-pound bags of dry pinto beans, and 2-pound bags of rice. The program is greatly appreciated by our member agencies.
