Food Bank of West Central Texas

Volunteers

We LOVE Food Bank volunteers! Volunteers are extremely important to the Food Bank of West Central Texas – without their labor of love we simply could not accomplish our mission. In the last year, volunteers contributed over 10,000 hours of service. That’s the equivalent of having five full time staff members working all year. Put another way, at the national hourly standard for volunteer labor -- $17.25 per hour -- 10,000 hours is valued at $172,500!

At FBWCT, volunteers have the faces of working professionals, retirees, stay-at-home-parents, high school and college students, scouts, and members of the U.S. military. These dedicated people help with product recovery, work in our fast-paced warehouse, provide administrative support, conduct their own food and fund drives, and assist with special events. The Food Bank depends upon volunteers who help us to distribute over 3 million pounds of food throughout West Central Texas.

All volunteer opportunities are customized to suit the skills and needs of those involved. Corporate volunteers design unique teambuilding projects, while school groups learn about hunger issues when volunteering in their community. If you have special interests like photography, carpentry, computers, or other hard-to-find skills, let us know! We can always find a fun and meaningful way for you to contribute to the Food Bank of West Central Texas.

During regular weekday business hours and most Saturdays you can help our warehouse team prepare orders for agencies, receive incoming donations, or answer telephones on our busy switchboard. YOUR Food Bank also needs help at festivals, shows, fairs, walks, and food drives. Sponsored activities and food and fund drives are vital to the growth and sustainability of the Food Bank and so are you!
