Violence Intervention & Prevention Program - the focus of the VIPP Program is to help people who are abusive or becoming violent in intimate relationships.

CHANGE IS A CHOICE!

Intake Overview:

Purpose:
The purpose of the intake session is to gather information and determine if the services offered by the Violence Intervention and Prevention Program (VIPP) are appropriate for the client.

Procedure:
The intake session is an individual session in which the client is required to complete the paperwork necessary to register as a client of the agency. The couselor discusses the limits of confidentiality, collects background information and listens to the client's story. Another important component of the interview process is to present the client with basic tools that may be used to control and avoid abusive behavior. This is done through the discussion of situational and physical cues to anger, handouts detailing "time-out" techniques, positive salf-talk and guidlines for respective arguement.

Friends of the Family has a 24-hour crisis line that is accessible to all clients when they need support to calm themselves down or when they are in crisis. The crisis line number and other referrals (as deemed necessary) are given to the client
.

Fees:
The client is required to pay $25 for the Intake session. Scholarships are available for clients and should be discussed with the couselor at the intake session.
