Community Members Helping One Another

We have many opportunities to be a part of our volunteer network. Most openings ask for a time commitment of 2 to 4 hours, one day a week. People with varied backgrounds and of all ages are encouraged to get involved. Orientation and training is provided.

Volunteer Opportunities at the Center for Healthy Aging

Appointment and Financial Secretaries No special experience required
Clinic Aide (license not required) Assist physicians with vitals, be present during exams, etc.
Dental Aide (license not required) Misc. duties in dental clinic.
Dental Assistant (licensed or certified) Assist dentist with dentures, impressions, etc.
Dental Hygienist (licensed) To clean teeth
Dental Lab Technician Sterilize instruments. Assist with operator clean-ups.
Dentist (licensed) For initial exams/evaluations, approximately 2 hours per month.
Retired Dentist To do cleanings, fillings and minor dental procedures
Lab Technician Put away supplies, inventory, sterilize instruments.
Medical Transcriptions Transcribe physician's notes from a tape onto a computer.
Nurse (licensed) To do vitals; will train to do EKG's and Blood Sugar tests
Nurse R.N. or L.P.N. to assist doctor at clinic.
Respiratory Therapist Work with C.O.P.D. and asthma patients.
Licensed Podiatrist To do minor procedures (once a month).
Instructor To assist with health education programs

Bridge Instructor To teach a beginner class
Delivery Driver Delivers Today's Senior in Ellis County
Digital Photography Instructor To teach a beginner class
Friendly Visitors To visit and interact with homebound clients
Home-Delivered Meals Drivers Recruit a friend, work as a team
Telephone Reassurance Callers Make daily calls providing socialization & reassurance
Walking Club Leader Lead a group of seniors on a walk around our campus
Kitchen Aide To help serve lunch
Instructors For any number of course topics from Art to Zoology
