Internationally celebrated artist, Robert Schoeller, has emerged as a modern master of classical and monumental works. His exhibit at City Hall will feature a 26-foot mural of a giant ocean wave in tribute to Clearwater Beach. Mr. Schoeller now resides and has studio space in Clearwater.

The Pinellas Animal Foundation presents artistic doghouses created by local architects, builders, artists, and designers to benefit animal education and service programs. A Bark-A-Latte Reception will be held Sept. 13, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to celebrate BOWser Abodes.

Aurora Heuple, born and raised in Mexico, discusses the influence of Pre-Columbian art in her works. Paintings on canvas and amate (bark paper) will be on display. She has exhibited internationally and was selected as Female Artist of the Year by the Tampa Hispanic Heritage organization.

Ulli Kampelmann's Exhibit

An exhibition of artwork by architectural glass artist and Clearwater resident Ulli Kampelmann is currently on display in the lobby of the Municipal Services Building, 110 S. Myrtle Ave., Clearwater. Ms. Kampelmann gained her fame in Germany by creating public artworks that are exhibited in Berlin, Esslingen, Karlsruhe and Stuttgart. The 12 pieces of stunning glass are on an extended generous loan by the artist.

Children's Banners
Summer 2008
The exhibit of textile inspired banners made by area children who created two-by-five foot banners, using textiles and techniques such as weaving, felting, dyeing, and sewing. The exhibit is part of the display located at the Main Library) as part of Convergence 2008, an international fiber arts conference being held at the Tampa Convention Center.
The children’s banners may be viewed during the summer months at the Municipal Services Building, 100 S. Myrtle Ave. For more information, call 562-4970, ext. 5284.

ARTIST'S FREE CRITIQUE: Studio 1212 offers a free critique the third Tuesday of every month. We invite all artists to bring in one or two unframed, unfinished paintings to be critiqued. The next critique will be October 21, 2008, from 10:00 a..m. to 11:30 a.m.
Studio 1212 comprises the oldest art cooperative in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. It was formed in October, 1970, by former students of William Pachner.
The purpose of Studio 1212 is to provide the opportunity to associate with other artists on an informal basis; also, to promote group discussions, exhibit work as a group, support open workshops and information exchange regarding the arts. In addition, we endeavor to sponsor art education in our community.

Christopher Still: Coming Home

This retrospective exhibition brings one of Florida’s preeminent painters back to his roots. A Tampa Bay native, Christopher Still gained formal training at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and has studied and traveled throughout Europe. Since his return to Florida, Still has established a remarkable career interweaving his academic training with themes featuring Florida culture and history. Featuring over thirty years of work, the exhibition includes fine examples of Still’s richly symbolic still life, landscape and history paintings as well as fascinating studies from such important mural projects as those he completed for the Chambers of the Florida House of Representatives in Tallahassee, the Tampa International Airport, and the Sandpearl Resort in Clearwater.

The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art will open two exhibitions on November 2, 2008.
Color Woodblock Prints is an exhibition of 73 color woodblock prints created in the early decades of the 20th century. A dozen artists, including Americans Gustave Baumann, Arthur Wesley Dow, Frances Gearhart, Edna Boies Hopkins and Margaret Jordan Patterson, as well as F. Morley Fletcher of England and Austrian Secessionist Max Kurzweil, will be represented by 73 prints and two books. The medium, inspired by Japanese ukiyo-e prints allowed the artists to expand their creativity with color theory, composition and technique.
Susan J. Montgomery, an independent decorative arts scholar holds a doctorate in American and New England Studies from Boston University. Montgomery, guest curator of The American Arts & Crafts Home 1900-1915 exhibition hosted at the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art in 2006 will be the guest curator for Color Woodblock Prints.
The Two Red Roses Foundation is a non-profit educational institution dedicated to promoting the American Arts & Crafts movement, an effort to reform the design and production of furniture, ceramics, metalwork and other decorative arts in the early 1900s. Color Woodblock Prints: Selections from the Two Red Roses Foundation features works from this exhibition and will be available in the Museum Store.
Works on Paper by Henry McBride is an exhibition on loan from the Henry McBride Foundation and includes 31 works on paper created by McBride in the late 19th century, and one work by Marcel Duchamp from McBride’s personal collection of avant-garde art. The Henry McBride Foundation formed in 2001, honors noted American art spokesman Henry McBride (1867-1962), a premier spokesman of the modernist movement. Henry McBride, the Flow of Art is available in the Museum Store. Both exhibitions will close on Jan 4, 2009.

LRMA staff will give a gallery talk to answer questions about McBride’s importance in art history and the role of the Henry McBride Foundation in creating awareness about his life and work. This program is free to members and is included with admission for non-members.
The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art is located just west of U.S. Highway 19 at 600 Klosterman Road, on the Tarpon Springs Campus of St. Petersburg College. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, with extended hours until 9 p.m. on Thursday. Sunday hours are from 1-5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and free to children and students with ID.
