The Latin American Youth Center (LAYC) is a non-profit youth and family center in Washington, D.C. Founded in 1974 for the purpose of serving at-risk immigrant Latino youth, LAYC now works each year with over 5,000 infants, children, teens, and adults from the city's Latino, Vietnamese, Caribbean, African-American, and African communities. Based in Columbia Heights, LAYC attracts individuals citywide to programs in academics, health education, job training, social services, leadership development, substance abuse prevention, housing, arts, humanities, and recreation.

The mission of the Department of Human Services Income Maintenance Administration (IMA) is to determine the eligibility of applicants and to recertify the eligibility of recipients for federal and District-funded assistance programs, and to help heads of households receiving TANF benefits to become employed and move toward financial independence.

Department of Human Services: Strong Families
The Strong Families Program Division is located within the Department of Human Services (DHS) Family Services Administration (FSA). The Strong Families Program began operations in October 2002 and serves families with multiple, complex problems who are in crisis and at high risk for family separation.
As an integral component of the Mayor's Safe Passages Action Plan, the program’s mission is to provide comprehensive service delivery to strengthen the family unit, foster healthy family development and help families address many of the issues that create ongoing challenges in their lives. One of the fundamental goals of the program is to prevent families from entering the District's child welfare, juvenile justice or homeless systems by working with families in a proactive, preventive manner.
