The Children's Museum in Easton

Each day features a different theme, combining presentations, performances and hands-on art and science activities. Drop-in Days also provide activities based on FETCH! with Ruff Ruffman.

FETCH!, Thursday, July 9
 Come meet Ruff, host of the wildly entertaining PBS show FETCH! with Ruff Ruffman! Also, kite expert, Archie Stewart of Kite Education will lead a kite making workshop* from 11am-1pm followed by a kite flying demo at 1pm. Appearances by Ruff, cake and a cool FETCH! challenege will round out the day.
 *To create a Kite it will cost $1.00, everything else that day will be free.

Crazy Concoctions I, Friday, July 10
Have a blast getting gooey here at the Museum and not your house! Dress for a mess, cuz we'll be up to our elbows in fun! We'll make a variety of gooky slimy stuff using basic household ingredients.
 
 
You're So Dramatic, Thursday, July 16th
10:30AM: Drama Kids International is coming to the Children's Museum in Easton. They will perform  then will lead visitors in interactive theater games. Join the Museum and Drama Kids International for this sure to be entertaining event.
                   
12:00PM: Hip Hop Mamas are bustin' some funky moves at the Children's Museum in Easton and want you to join in on the fun.  This upbeat performance proves that hip hop is fun and great
exercise!
 
1:30PM: Rosalita's Puppets come on an adventure in a Enchanted Forest with Princess Rosalita. She is on a mission to rescue the King and help out forest creatures along the way. So buckle your seat belts because this magical adventure is a bumpy one.  
 
 
Dog Days I, Friday, July 17  *special start time!
10AM- The Museum is excited to welcome Bob Bruce and his dog Cokie. Cokie is a therapy service dog and Tail Wagging Tutor that goes around to many of the area's Hospitals to cheer up patients with her owner Bob.
The Shoo Geese! Border Patrol will also be at the Museum. Come meet Gail Devins and her two dogs Tug and Louie. You will be able to see, pet, and learn about how these dogs keep geese away from areas they are not supposed to be.
   
 11AM-Noon:Meet Catie Copley and author Deborah Kovacs. Catie Copley is a black labrador retriever who works as a canine ambassador at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston
 and is the inspiration for her new book  Catie Copley's Great Escape, by Deborah Kovacs.You'll hear the story and have a chance to meet Deborah Kovacs, Catie, and Jim Carey, Catie's caretaker and concierge at the Hotel.
 
12:30 PM: A representative from NEADS (Dogs for Deaf and Disabled Americans) will come to the museum to demonstrate how dogs can help those who are hearing and sight impared. Come meet these amazing animals.
 
2:00 PM: Learn about what therapy dogs do, how they are trained and more with Dr. Louise Graham and her class. Then watch them play musical chairs!

Folks from the Brockton Blue Dog Shelter will be here all day with info on how to adopt a dog or how you can help the dogs waiting to be adopted.

Sports and Fitness Day, Thursday, July 23
Join the Museum for the Sports and Fitness Drop-In Day. We will have special guests like the Gentle Giant Portable Stair Truck and Slide as well as a visit from the Brockton Rox at 11:30am.  At 1:00 pm the Museum will also be receiving a visit from the Beantown Jumpers, a Boston based competitive double dutch jump rope team.  They'll be here to show us some of their moves that they use in competitions, which are a great way to keep fit. So join us for this fun filled day of sports and fitness.
                                             
 
  
Tie Dye Day,
Friday, July 24
12-2pm - Join the Mix 98.5 Street Team for some ice cream and Tie Dyeing some shirts!  Bring a 100% white cotton t-shirt (or buy one from us for $3) or a pillowcase or a pair of socks for this perennial favorite.
 
 
Birds & Bees, Thursday, July 30
1:00pm- Birds of Prey, learn about these magnificent creatures with Marla Isaac of New England Reptile and Raptor Exhibits.
 
10:30am-3pm: A representative from the Bristol County Beekeepers Association will be here to answer your questions about beekeeping. You'll be able to look at a hive up close and see what makes the world of bees so fascinating. The BCBA is a group of honey bee enthusiasts whose purpose is to help each other and new people with their hobby. Members of the club range from first year beekeepers to very experienced people that have handled a hundred hives and dealt with tons of honey.
 
  
We will be giving out free ice cream thanks to our good friends at Häagen-Dazs. Learn about the important cause to save the Honey bees that Haagen-Dazs is fighting for. Honey bees colonies are disappearing at an alarming rate and it needs to be stopped.

A Pirate's Life for Me, Friday, July 31
10:30AM and 12:30PM: Shiver me timbers men hearties! Join Cap'n Scully and First Mate Jenny McBoo as they recount new tales of the briny deep in song. Dress in ye best pirate garb, land lubbers.

Under the Big Top, Friday, August 7
Watch as Awesome Robb transforms into his alter ego, Gonzo the Clown and learn how it's done! From face painting secrets to picking the right outfit and a few juggling tips, Robb will share what he learned at Clown College. In addition, you can try your hand at a few balancing activities and make a mask of your favorite circus animal.  
 
Noon-1PM there will be a juggling and hula hoop presentation given by professional Circus performers. Come and learn how to juggle and hula to the best of your abilities.
 
 
Dog Days of Summer II, Thursday, August 13 *special start time!
A day devoted to man's (and kid's) best friend! We will feature the jobs they have, the games they play, and how dogs help people and how people help dogs.
 
Susan Winters will be demonstrating with her dogs obedience, grooming, agility, frisbee skills and more...

Dick Norton from Bark Busters will be demonstrating with his dog safety tips on how to behave around dogs.
 
12 PM: Join us as Nancy Bates and her Bernese Mountain dog do a carting demonstration, a free style dance routine and paint one of her masterpieces!

Aexeous Robot, Friday, August 14
11:00AM, Noon, 1:00PM, and 2:00 PM- Meet the amazing robotic creature, Aexeous! For one day only, see this one-of-a-kind engineering marvel that is being used as a teaching tool, educating and exciting kids of all ages! He's big! He moves! He talks! He's fully interactive!

Curious Creatures, Friday, August 21
Curious Creatures 10:30 & Noon- Reptiles rule! Get up close (or as close as you want) to a baby alligator, a giant lizard, turtle, spider, snake, and other creatures in this hour long hands-on show!
 


 

Wild West, Thursday, August 27
Buckaroos! Get yourself to the CME Ranch, partake in a rodeo round up, learn to lasso a rustler, check out Miss Candy's animals, and do more stuff than you can shake a stick at.

FETCH!Ô with Ruff Ruffman, Friday, August 28
Ruff returns and this time he brings a cast member with him! Bring your camera and questions for this meet and greet...and eat. We'll be serving cake!
