To the Chappaqua School District Community:

If you were to ask your neighbors why they originally moved to Chappaqua, most would likely respond that it was for the quality of the schools. We are fortunate to live in a community with committed administrators, devoted members of the school board, and a corps of dedicated and talented teachers.

Why does a community such as Chappaqua need a school foundation? Because there is only so far a public school budget, which is dependent on government funding, can go. With much of our school district’s annual budget allocated to critical fixed costs such as salaries and equipment, little remains for innovations – creative, educational initiatives generated by teachers, administrators and parents.

That’s where the Chappaqua School Foundation (CSF) steps in. The mission of CSF is to enhance the learning and personal growth of Chappaqua students by funding creative projects that are beyond the scope of the school budget. CSFenables our educators to test new teaching ideas, technology and interdisciplinary programs – with the end goal of having a lasting positive impact on our children.

Some examples of recent CSF grants are:

·        SMART Boards (interactive whiteboard technology) in every fourth grade classroom and in classrooms at the high school and both middle schools

·        Robotics and Tablet PCs – funding one of the few high school hands-on Robotics programs in the country

·        The Learning and Growing Garden at BellMiddle School

·        The Wind Tunnel for Aerodynamics Study at SevenBridgesMiddle School

·        The Kindergarten Book Pack Program, TLC Book of the Month, and Videoconferencing for all elementary schools.

A cutting edge school district benefits us all. Won’t you join us in supporting our schools?

Sincerely,

Leslie
