DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROJECT

The Domestic Violence project at Centro Romero has a unique ability to help to identify and reduce the impact of domestic violence in the Latino community. This project aims to increase awareness of family violence issues among our entire community and provides participants with accessibility to social resources. We contribute to the development of leadearship among participants, their families and the community. The project seeks to reduce incidence of family violence and assists women in taking control of their lives through intervention and education for prevention.

We offer free anonymous, and confidential services such as:

  • Individual counseling (Spanish)
  • Support groups (Spanish)
  • Childcare (for participants of the support group)
  • Criminal and civil court advocacy
  • Education for prevention workshops (Domestic Violence)
Thank You
Unity Church In Chicago, located just a few blocks from Centro Romero, at 1925 W. Thome Ave., has been a supporter of the Domestic Violence Program for many years. Last year the church donated over 100 Christmas gifts to program families. Then in January of this year it contributed $1,200 that paid for furniture and clothing for a family who lost everything in a fire in Rogers Park that sadly also claimed the lives of six of the family’s children. Most recently, through the church’s Compassionate Connections program, the Marcon Foundation, based in New Jersey, gave our program $5,000. These funds will pay for basic needs of the women and their children we serve—food, clothing, and bus passes.

Thank you, Unity Church In Chicago and the Marcon Foundation, for your generosity and commitment to our Domestic Violence Program.
