SPARK is made up of parents whose children receive special services and/or classroom support in district 308 and beyond. The group meets every month except for June, July, August and December. Anyone is welcome to attend these informative meetings which provide opportunities to:

  • hear from speakers
  • learn about resources in the community
  • network with other parents
  • keep updated on issues affecting children with special needs

Our mission is to unify and support parents and care givers of children with special needs from birth to age 21 by providing them with an opportunity to:

Meet with other parents to share experiences and learn more about topics of interest to them through regular meetings.

Learn about and support legislation, funding, services and community resources that support and strengthen the families of children with special needs in our communities.

Meet with educators and community leaders to increase awareness of and gain support for the children with special needs in our communities.

We believe that no one can better understand the unique challenges of parenting a child with special needs than another parent of a special needs child.

SPARK is not part of District 308 or the Kendall County Coop.

May 11, 2009 The Oswego Police Department
 - has been invited to come and present on their CAR or Citizens At Risk
program.

We are still waiting to finalize the details for this presentation so please check back soon. The CAR program would register kids with special needs, adults with disabilities or the elderly who might have dementia or Alzheimer's.  The idea behind the program is if one of these types of persons would become missing for any reason, the police would already have in a data base the information necessary to start the search - therefore not wasting any time gathering the information.
