| Oncology Center Visitation Program
Cancer Connection has recently partnered with local oncology centers in providing our volunteers the opportunity to visit with patients and family members awaiting and receiving cancer treatment. Many patients face treatment alone, and having a friendly face and a listening ear can make a difficult situation a little more bearable. Connection volunteers also offer snacks, blankets, pillows and other sources of comfort for patients and their family members.
Connection volunteers can currently be found at three local oncology centers: Texas Oncology at Balcones Drive, South Austin Cancer Center on James Casey St., and Southwest Regional Cancer Center on West 38th Street. We are optimistic to place volunteers at other oncology centers in the future, but in the meanwhile, look forward to having more volunteer support at our current locations. Texas Oncology (6204 Balcones):
Volunteers are currently needed to staff this oncology center on Mondays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and Tuesdays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Volunteers are currently needed to staff this oncology center on Tuesdays and Wednesdays: Shift One is from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Shift Two is from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
Southwest Regional Cancer Center (901 W. 38th Street, Ste. 200):
Volunteers are currently needed to staff this oncology center on Mondays and Thursdays: Shift One is 9:00 am to 12:00pm. Shift Two is 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
