| Hospital Visitation Program
For many cancer patients, receiving treatment while in the hospital can be one of the most isolating and fearful times during their cancer experience.
For that reason, we provide additional training for our volunteers who visit cancer patients and their families at Austin area hospitals. During the visits, Connection volunteers introduce themselves as cancer survivors, inform patients and family members about Cancer Connection’s unique services and most importantly, listen to their thoughts and concerns.
Our Connection volunteers recognize the unique needs of hospitalized patients, and are trained to help meet those needs. These caring, sensitive men and women see beyond the confines of a hospital room: they help newly diagnosed cancer patients and family members face the future with courage, strength and hope.
If your hospital is interested in developing a Cancer Connection visitation program, you may call the office at 512.342.0233, or send an e-mail to karen@thecancerconnection.org.
