Brandon, 18, died after being arrested following an automobile accident. He repeatedly complained of pain and asked to be taken to the hospital. Despite noting a large bump on his skull, guards refused his requests. The jail nurse advised the guards not to take Brandon to the hospital, stating that she thought he was just trying to get a free trip to the emergency room. Brandon died from acute bacterial meningitis from a skull fracture three days after arrest.
