Three programs, one agency, one mission...
The Children’s Advocacy Center is a centralized clearing house for investigation of suspected sexual and physical abuse. It is a collaboration between law enforcement, Child Protective Services, the District Attorney, the medical community, social workers, and case managers. Partner agencies meet regularly to oversee each case from the beginning to the end.
CAC provides a safe nurturing place for a child to be interviewed, examined to be sure he or she is healthy, receive counseling and case management. Forensic medical evidence may be collected. The forensic interview is recorded on DVD and helps cut down the number of times a child has to repeat his or her story.
Keeping children safe is everyone’s responsibility. When a child’s safety is in doubt, call the statewide child abuse reporting hotline 1-800-252-5400 and give the team of professionals the opportunity to help the child.
If there is an immediate threat, call 911.
